Short Biography
Originally I was trained as biochemist at the Universidad Catolica de Chile where I gained experience studying the role of mitochondrial biogenesis on the mechanism activated by oxidative stress. As graduate student, I became interested in the mechanism controlling synapse structure and function where I focused on signaling pathways implicated in synapses dysfunction relevant for neurodegeneration. Currently, I am investigating the molecular basis of synapse assembly and maintenance and the role of adhesion molecules in the etiology of neurodevelopmental disorders such as schizophrenia.
