We are thrilled to receive funding from the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) Initiative. Cognitive impairments affect most PD patients, and this $9 million grant will enable our multidisciplinary team, coordinated by Thomas Biederer, to understand how cellular and circuit vulnerabilities impact cortical networks as Parkinson’s disease progresses. The additional core investigators are Elena Gracheva (Yale), Michael Higley (Yale), Danielle Bassett (U Penn), and Michael Henderson (Van Andel Research Institute). To achieve this goal, we will bring together our expertise in synaptic integrity, physiology, computational modeling, and quantitative pathology. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is working with ASAP to implement this work. Info on our research program and team is in this press release, and the ASAP collaborative network is presented here.
